The legendary American musician Johnny (Spazz) Hatton (best known as the upright bass player for The Brian Setzer Orchestra, but also for playing with artists like Elvis Presley, Clark Terry, Gene Harris and the Royal Crown Revue) has released his great new album Gospel Bop, a straight-up mix of rockabilly and country with blues, jazz and gospel influences.
Together with Bernie Dresel (drummer for The Brian Sezter Orchestra) and some of his L.A. musician friends mr. Hatton collected and wrote fourteen tracks that reflect his journey trough life.
Recently TrenchcoaT has been approached by Johnny, who asked our permission to cover one of our songs for his brand new album.
And so it happened!
We proudly announce that his cover of our rockabilly classic Racing with the Devil from our debutalbum Rolling in Style is now present on Gospel Bop!
In other news; we are aware of the fact that we are really testing your patience concerning our new album…but it will be worth the wait! The recordings will be finished this summer, and we are rehearsing some new tunes. So stay tuned!
The ugly side of band-life… Taking the all our instruments to the gig! Now follows rare footage of Tobias being sober.. In this uncommon state of mind, he has this huge sense of responsibility and mathematical understanding needed to load the car…
Once upon a time, on a sunny day in late April, we went to the Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch where our video clip was shown.. Our inexorable reporter Luke the Nuke happened to have a camera with him, and sneaked into the museum to make another one of his great vids, which the visually gifted amongst you can see here!
Upcoming Sunday March 14th our cardboard-raping videoclip of Whatcha Got will be shown in the TV program Kunstof TV, which will start around 17.30 on Nederland 2.
It will be used as promotion material for the “De Fantasie Fabriek – Animatie in Nederand” exposition in the Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch (Holland), where the clip is screened until the 25th of April 2010.
So get your favorite chair in front of the TV, grab a few beers, put on some pants, invite your friends, and tune your TV to the right channel cause this will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will grab you by the eyeballs!
Last weekend, we had a string quartet visiting the studio and playing some beautiful shit that was just heart-breakingly fan-fucking-tastic! I’m still wiping the tears out of my eyes because of the deep, warm, sad, subtleness of it!
The song they played was our funeralicious disasterpiece “I’ll bring balloons to your funeral” and I’m sure anyone who hears it will be depressed instantly.
Since we’re pretty much locked up here in the studio we decided to pick up a camera and start shooting some vids for the site. We also found some awesome live footage in Plec’s whiskey cellar so keep checking back here as we’ll upload more cool shit soon!
From the 23rd of January until the 25th of April 2010 our award winning music video “Whatcha Got” will be screened as part of the “De Fantasie Fabriek – Animatie in Nederand” (The Fantasy Factory – Animation In Holland) exposition in the Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch (Holland).
This is gonna be fun! Check out this new preview with some examples!
